Choctaw Nation Court of General Jurisdiction
The Choctaw Nation Court of General Jurisdiction was established in 2009 to unite and consolidate the Nation’s courts. Replacing the former CFR Court of Indian Offenses, the Court of General Jurisdiction operates through the Appellate Division and the District Courts of the Choctaw Nation.
About the Choctaw Nation Court of General Jurisdiction
In 2009, the Choctaw Nation Tribal Council determined that the administration of justice and the general good of the Choctaw Nation would be best served through unifying and consolidating the Nation’s courts into a unified judicial department.
Operating through the Appellate Division and the District Courts of the Choctaw Nation, the Court of General Jurisdiction has full civil and criminal jurisdiction over all Indian Country as described in Article I, Section 2 of the Choctaw Nation Constitution.
The Court of General Jurisdiction shall not have jurisdiction over matters arising under any provision of the Constitution, or any rule or regulation enacted by the Tribal Council.
